The First Time

When was the last time you did something for the first time? For me, aided by the good lady

wife, we have just started a new project, so the answer to that question is today. Strange for somebody about to enter his 7th decade (just me not Rach she is nowhere near that age!) you might say.

A bit of background. My work with Gill’s Puddings is going really well but these days only accounts for two days a week. My life long passion for cars is still there but the big electric con (don't get me started on that!) has caused irreparable damage to that . Motorsport marshalling has evolved into something I can no longer support. The racing is still great, most of the marshals will always remain close friends but and it’s a big but, oh the politics and cliques, ever likely they struggle to find volunteers for many club events, even some of the headline events struggle. I have predicted and spoken of this many times even at the highest level within the sport in the UK and suggested ways to alleviate it, hey ho.

So despite the grey hair the grey matter underneath still needs stimulation.

What to do?

I remembered from my hippy dippy days in the 1970’s seeing an amethyst geode in a jeweller’s shop window and thinking what an awesome thing that is, the colours and the sparkle hidden in what I would have dismissed as a boring chunk of stone. Amazing.

Rach has always valued the potential healing properties of crystals and after a few conversations the seed was sewn. Much investigation followed.

Whilst people were selling stones on line and at craft fairs etc nobody was selling the story or the dream. There are lots of stories behind ethically sourced crystals and stones directly affecting “the little man” not mega national industries. Nor were they explaining the potential of how these crystals could help change lives.

So, Scintille des Bois was born. The translation of which is Sparkles from the Woods, after all we are the Woods.

The aims. We will not be millionaires this time next year, nor do we want to be (maybe a little bit) but we do want to change lives. The lives of our suppliers and the lives of our customers. More importantly and selfishly give our lives more purpose. I won’t be leaving Gill’s Puddings any time soon, Rach will continue stabbing people for the NHS (she’s a phlebotomist) but we will have a new hobby and be extending our knowledge and understanding of life.

So today is the day.
